Don't be fearful of the head-hunter. These guys/gals put their
pants on one leg at a time just like the rest of us. Most have
families - spouses - children - go to church - serve on boards
for charities - belongs to the Chamber of Commerce, etc.
You've maybe known the 3 biggest mistakes any of us can make
when looking for our dream job (and how to avoid them) then
you need to know the 2 words that guarantee your success so you
can put them into your career search activity program.
Most of us have taken jobs without much thought about where they
will lead to in the future. It was a source of money - income -at the time. If you're not careful, you can get stuck in such a job and never get out of the rut.
Here are my answers -- sometimes - never - maybe - it all
depends. You may think that's an indecisive response, but
few things have concrete, no diversion, answers, especially
when it's your future and financial security.
Are you happy where you are today? The number of folks who appear completely happy in their present career seems very low from all that I read across the news -- TV; newspaper; magazines, etc.
Most of us spend more time AT WORK then elsewhere. If you're like the rest of the working stiffs... it's about 60% up to 70% or more of your time either traveling back and forth plus 8 to 12 hours on the job for your employer. We call that full-time.
YOU are the only one who needs to be 'pleased' when it comes
to deciding on your career choice. No one else matters! If that sounds harsh, reality tells us no one has a right to 'control' another persons future.
You've heard the saying, "nice guys finish last"? Most of us
like to think we've selected our "partners" carefully with no
chance of having a problem, right? Absolutely!! Just like
some folks pick their mate and promise "forever" UNTIL
something better comes along.
Franchises are sold as the sweetest deal since time began,
but you need to TEST THE PROFORMA before you put the
family fortunes at risk.
As a business executive, you've probably seen good times as well as a few bad days. If not, count on it some day. Few of us run a business on auto pilot without a blip in the road. Cash cows are great, but most of us never discover them in the marketplace.
